Are there alternative treatments?
Yes, missing teeth can be replaced by removable dentures or in some cases by attaching new teeth to adjacent teeth (bridges). Many patients find dentures unsatisfactory due to their mobility and Dentists often observe damage to teeth and gums. Conventional bridgework involves extensive preparation (drilling) of the adjacent teeth which can lead to further tooth loss. Both dentures and bridgework can on occasions be appropriate solutions for missing teeth but their correct usage is now commonly superseded by implants.
